Two Awards Recitals are given each year, usually in November and late April. These are well attended events (600 - 800 people) spread over three recitals. As one parent put it, "the recitals are more concerts rather than recitals, as each student is well prepared." At these events, trophies are awarded to each and every performer commensurate with their level of achievement in the semester. For example, level 1 and 2 awards are given to beginning students, and levels 6 - 12 for more advanced. Adult students are encouraged to participate in recitals, as well, and will generally perform after the children.
To demonstrate and model performance, teachers of the Joe Ferrante Music Academy perform at the recitals in one or more of their areas of expertise. Additonally, Joe Ferrante, an accomplished composer, pianist and film music composer, performs at the end. A time of reception is held for all at the conclusion of the awards presentations.
Additional Recitals are held at one of the local Seniors Home or other venue. These are especially valuable opportunities for students to gain experience performing in a smaller setting. The student's teachers can arrange for their participation in these events, usually held on a Saturday morning.

The Joe Ferrante Music Academy is committed to developing musicians by having students perform at recitals and other performance venues. Recitals are a key component to learning the important skills of final artistic preparation, interpretation, communicating musical expression through public performance, and observing other musicians on a similar journey. It's not uncommon to hear presentations in piano, voice, guitar, violin, flute, sax and original composition -- all on the same program.
